Simple no?

Snobby legal lesson on police incident reports
Got snubbed on the phone by the Binangonan legal office for not waiting for the police to write an incident report in yesterday’s accident (http://ramfree17.net/capsule/2011/08/i-dont-need-this-right-now/).
Moral lessons of the story:
it doesn’t matter if you took pictures and if the police doesn’t arrive after an hour in the incident; you need to wait for them to create the...

“If the sky is high and the carabaos can fly, how many bananas are left?”
A riddle I found from the Inquirer circa 1994. I dedicate this to Babs na Babs, bsMouth and JoyaBongga. ;)

Remove empty directories using *nix find
find -depth -type d -empty -exec rmdir {} \;
The -depth parameter tells find to start from the innermost directory first and work its way to the top level.

They call it differently
My wife’s nieces are staying with us for a week. While watching TV, an ad was played showing a senator commandering and pedaling a commuter tri-bike in a poverty-stricken area while spouting lines that roughly translate to “I will take care of you”. The 10-year old niece nonchalantly and innocently looked up and asked “Tito, eleksyon na ba?” (“Uncle, is it...

How come when I am at work I have tons of ideas on what to do when I get home but when I get home I am drawing blanks?
I can’t figure out why people would still unplug an electrical appliance if they have already turned off the mechanical kill-switch on the outlet that it is connected to. Some people are really just sheep.

Day 2 mid-day update
All vegetables. Unfortunately only ‘ampalay’ or bitter gourd is available in the cafeteria. I ordered two servings with instruction to minimize the pork amount in the serving. It was expectedly bitter but what the heck, I have to eat.
Hopefully the vegetable viands tomorrow will be better.

6-cell MSI Wind delayed until September 2008
This week has been a series of disappointments. Crunch gear reports that the battery factory fire has hit MSI hard so the 6-cell version won’t be coming out until September. *sigh*
A big whole gaping difference
IT Security is for keeping intruders out. Prison Security is for keeping occupants in. My question is what type of security are we implementing?

Attitudes
I am so tired of this “can’t do” attitude without providing an alternative of what we “can do”. I wish they would work with us on creating a solution rather than just telling us our solution will not work or is not allowed to work.
Preferred music player in Windows
Coming from a WinAmp background, the best mp3/ogg/wma player right now for me is XMPlay (http://www.un4seen.com/xmplay.html) which can be used without installation and provides enough features to suit somebody who likes to play some tunes in the background while working. For those not reading between the lines, it means somebody who doesnt really care about the visualization because it meant to be...

Onshore Luck
Inside joke that for every Christmas raffle in the company, it is the resources who are assigned onshore who gets a better chance of winning. I have been with the company for more than 4 years and I haven’t won anything. Until this year. Since I am onshore, Lady Luck must have been drunk since she smiled at my direction. I won a consolation price, a GC for an artistic franchise. There are...

Sometimes I cannot help being analytical which, tongue-in-cheek, means I am being anal most of those times. Its the drawback of having the following factors: being able to analyze trivial things, having a twisted sense of humor, and lack of necessary tact. Nobody is perfect, but some are more imperfect than others. :) ciao!

State of mind
Everything is a state of mind. Happiness, sadness, anger, love. These can be controlled, or if not at least channeled. Some can even suppress them but that can be dangerous in the long run. My state of mind is not perfect. I can still feel, but I can mask and to some degree dissipate the feelings through rationalization and passiveness. There would be times wherein feelings can overcome the...

I will not be intimidated.
I just received an email with all the top-dogs in the recipient list. Am I working for an organization that will resort to intimidation to get things done? Reality check, intimidation does not work for me if I have done nothing wrong. It only pisses me off but at the same time I find it funny in some way. I think I should transfer to a kindergarten school. :P
